Kerr, Washington Caruthers

Washington Caruthers Kerr (1827-1885) of Guilford County, NC, entered the University in 1847 and delivered his inaugural address as president of the Dialectic Society in July 1849. Graduating with first honors in 1850, he received the MA degree in 1852 and became a professor at Davidson College. From 1869 to 1884 he served as NC state geologist.
